Service Job: Change Precitec Procutter Protective Window on Focus Lens
Customer had noticed a decrease in production cut quality, more frequent change of bottom protective windows, and an increase in speed of over temperature on cutting head, so they inspected the red dot of the laser with the removal of the protective window and noticed some obvious dot marks in the beam. So they called our team to get it fixed up quickly.
Tech went onsite and removed the cutting head and bought it back into a clean room, with a quick analysis seeing the focus lens - protective window had burn marks and needed to be changed. This check potentially saved thousands in production costs, but also many just assume that it would be the complete focal lens and replace which costs thousands - so with a quick job with a cheaper genuine protective window, machine was up and running to production again, within hours of customer reporting the problem.
That is the benefit of having a local team, with real spares, real equipment and real experience to get you working as quickly as possible.

Service Job: Change Fume Extraction Filters
It was that time again when the fume extraction filters needed to be changed for the plasma cutting production to continue. So our Farley technician had to suit up and get dirty to change the filters
It is important to get fully suited up for changing filters and cleaning the fume extraction unit because the dust is very fine metal, so if no protection you will be ingesting it into your lungs.
So safety has to be an important part for your operators long term health.

Service Job: Remote diagnose issue with cut
Customer called up service team to try and understand why his stainless steel had some discolouration around the edges, but the cut quality was still good.
Remote service tech new that it was a gas issue from the start - so first thing to do is turn off the oxygen gas bottles and purge out the oxygen line - while you are cutting with nitrogen. This is to make sure that oxy is not leaking into the system while cutting with nitrogen.
After doing this and the cut did not change - we asked him to change his Nitrogen gas bottle with a new set. Straight after changing and purging the line. The cut was back to normal
Now it is not usual for gas supplied to be an issue, but this proves it can happen.

Service Job: Replace burnt out Fiber Cable
When you have damaged your laser source, if buying directly from China you have to send it back to China to get it replaced or repaired. Though buying from Farley LaserLab Australia you will get the laser unit repaired in days rather than months.
Customer had burnt out there fiber cable due to constant back reflection which burnt the fiber crystal which means a complete new replacement cable.
After sending the laser unit to our factory, with stock fiber cables and our inhouse fiber fusion machine and power meter we were able to quickly get the customer operational again.
This is a unique service supplied only by proper service teams, just reselling machines does not give you the real support you need for production cutting.

Service Job: Blown Hypertherm HPRXD Torch Lead & Receptacle
Some times that 5% extra knowledge can make a difference in $5,000 of parts.
Customer needed to change a Hypertherm HPRXD receptacle - they wanted to do it themselves to save some money, and with some warning about how the installation should be done with that little bit extra care to ensure when changing it does not blow out the torch lead.
Unfortunately they did not securely put the gas hoses in the receptacle correctly which created some leaking gas and while cutting a small fire was created from the gas and burnt the HPRXD torch lead
Now for anyone changing the HPRXD receptacle you have to be 100% sure that the gas hoses which are push in fittings are securely connected with a firm pulling out to make sure it is securely connected.

Service Job: Use Genuine Class 4 Laser Protective Windows
Most machines that come direct from China do not use Genuine Class 4 Laser Protective windows meaning your operator is not truly protected against the dangers of laser cutting.
If you see a laser machine that looks like it is completely covered in Protective Laser Windows than most likely it is not the real thing - as this is a very expensive window and could be the equivalent price of the machine.
So make sure you know what you are buying when trying to protect your team.
Our team also retrofits the Class 4 Protective windows onto customers existing machines.

Customer has different suppliers XPR Beamline Plasma machine and needed some quick help to get them operational again
Due to the customer having some other Farley Plasma machines we have a long term friendship with the managers so we offer quick support to keep their production operating.
The customer had blown the XPR torch so we went to inspect and have seen the torch lead and receptacle was all burnt and needed quick replacements.
So after a quick diagnose the team went to work to start replacing and by the next day customer was back in production.

Service Job: Remotely Repair Damaged Lens
Customer called up the Farley Remote Service Team to diagnose an issue with the cut quality of there Stainless steel Cutting.
The Farley Remote service had to remotely go through the process of diagnosing the cutting issue. The first thing you do is make sure you inspect your protective windows for damage and make sure you have a good nozzle alignment (these are most common problem) though the operator was good and was able to show us this has already been done. The next step is to cut on Mild Steel to see if the issue is replicated on both Mild Steel (oxygen cutting) and Stainless (Nitrogen cutting) this makes sure it is not a gas issue. This case was still an issue for both Mild Steel and Stainless so the next step was to remotely inspect the laser power output from the Raycus Software was monitoring correctly to ensure at minimun it is commanding the correct power. After this was established we were now confident that the issue was the internal optics of the cutting head (Focus and Collimating Lens).
Due to the location the customer wanted to change themselves so we sent up the parts, the self service kit (cotton buds, gloves, cleaning agent etc) also the laser clean box. The customer was able to complete the job themselves and now are cutting at full production again.

Farley sales team went to see the customer for a general chat about business and while talking to the operator about the machine, the operator told the salesman that he is hearing a constant sound coming from the machines.
The Farley salesman jumped on to the machine and looked around and noticed a hissing sound coming from the Nitrogen proportional valve also seeing the pressure display was moving, when turning the nitrogen bottles off the hissing stopped, which indicated that this was leaking nitrogen gas due to the proportional valve.
So we had a tech come onsite and replace the nitrogen valve, which stopped the leak and customer was happy and fully operational again.
This can happen when changing gas bottles - debris can be introduced into the gas line and cause it to block the solenoid valve from closing - this valve can be cleaned and repaired to be used as a spare part for the future.

This machine was not a Farley LaserLab machine - as an authorized Hypertherm O.E.M Trained Team, we regularly get called in to help with other companies machines to get them running quickly.
Customer called up with a Hypertherm Error 93 - with our expertise we were able to diagnose the problem remotely and ensured the technician had all the expected and potential parts that was required ready with him - so it was a 1 day job to repair not requiring multiple visits.
Hypertherm Error 93 - represent no coolant flow
So technician took with him new coolant, filter, pumps and sensors. Which after completing the general service and changing the coolant pump the customer was back in operation.

This machine was not a Farley LaserLab machine - though purchased from a local supplier. The customer was moving factories and decided that they could move the machine themselves without any support from service experts.
After moving the machine the customer started cutting and after 2 cuts the machine came up in a warning, after trying to get the original supplier to come out and see the machine, unfortunately they had long leads times for onsite support, so the customer called Farley LaserLab Australia to come out and inspect the issue, which due to the location we were able to do same day.
Though within 5 minutes of inspecting the issue, it was obvious that when moving the machine the cutting head and QBH laser connector had become disconnected (without error codes) and without realising the customer shot the laser out which damaged the QBH Connector.
This issue was not a cheap solution - to get the customer running quickly we had to replace the 3kW laser unit which was completed in 2 days with our stock laser units, and customer was operational again.

The customer called up explaining there cut quality for the ducting 1.6mm was not good and it was not cutting through the material, while also telling me they had water dripping from the nozzle of the cutting head.
With quick remote support the first thing we asked them to check was there air compressor (a lot of ducting companies cut with compressed air) so he went to check and noticed that no-one has turned the air dryer on for 3 days, which has meant water has run through all the gas hoses and through the nozzle cooling function, which has splashed into the optic of the cutting head.
Luckily due to the customer not cutting too much on the day the optics where able to dry out, and lucky that no oil was in the line - as that would have meant a complete gas hose and solenoid change out.
